Preliminary studies have determined the facilities required in light of the new housing to be built on the site and in order to remedy shortcomings in the surrounding districts. A gross floor area of 24,500 m² has been earmarked for these facilities in the project.

The facilities will be located close to the main pedestrian routes and cycle paths that will cross the site.

Local shops will complement those already present in the surrounding districts, especially at Evere’s shopping mall. The priority will be to establish them along the edge of the site, so that both occupants of Josaphat and residents of neighbouring districts can help ensure their success. There are also plans for catering outlets, especially at the centre of the site.

The three footbridges across the railway and the main pedestrian routes will be developed in the first phase of development to make the shops more accessible.
